Deep Rest: The Real Superpower

In the constant noise of everyday life, it’s easy to drift away from our own inner compass. We get caught up in doing, rushing, pleasing, performing, until the only time we notice our bodies is when something aches, breaks, or demands attention.

When you constantly push yourself without taking the time to recharge, your brain stays in reactive mode, making it difficult to think deeply or generate fresh ideas. But here’s the truth: Your brain doesn’t thrive under constant pressure. It needs space to make connections. It needs stillness to process ideas. It needs quiet to make the right decisions. Without deep rest, your mind gets stuck in reactive mode.

Reactive mode is where the monkey mind thrives on worries, comparison, doubt, insecurity, and thoughts about the past and the future. To slow down the chaos in our mind we need to connect with our body. To connect with our body we need to rest. When we rest we get to listen to our own inner wisdom; and that's were the magic arise.

Your Body Knows the Way

The body speak in sensations. In tension. In softness. In sudden fatigue.
The body offer wisdom far deeper than the mind alone can grasp.

Our breath gets shallow when we’re holding back.
Our shoulders tighten when we’re carrying too much.
Our chest expands when something feels aligned.
Our gut clenches when something is off.

These aren’t just random reactions.
They are invitations to pause and listen.

Yet in a world built for speed and productivity, slowing down can feel rebellious.
It takes courage to stop. To tune in. To ask, “What do I really need right now?”
And then… to honor the answer.

Your body isn’t a "thing" you're carrying along in this life - it is your HOME, your valuable sanctuary full of wisdom and guidance.

It’s saying: I am worthy of care. I am allowed to move through the world in a way that feels good to me.
It’s reclaiming your time, your energy, and your peace.

Rest is not about being lazy. It’s about being wise and knowing when to recharge.

I had to learn this the hard way. And maybe you’re in the thick of it right now, too; exhausted, uninspired, running on fumes, feeling guilty for even wanting a break.

I get it.

I used to think rest was lazy. That doing nothing meant I was wasting time. That if I wanted to “make it,” I had to keep grinding, hustling, pushing. And for a long time, I did exactly that. I’d roll out of bed and start working in my pajamas, skipping meals, skipping movement, and skipping taking care of me

Eventually, my body said “enough.” I burned out.

And that’s when I learned one of the most life-altering lessons of my healing journey: Rest isn’t something you earn—it’s something you need to be your optimal self.

Deep Rest: The Real Superpower

So let’s be clear: Deep rest is not zoning out on social media, meeting up with friends, or watching Netflix. It’s about intentional mental and emotional recovery.

It’s the kind of rest that nourishes your nervous system and refills your energy well. It's the kind of rest that gives your brain a real pause.

  • Rest is sitting in nature with no agenda.

  • Rest is practicing yin or restorative yoga to release stored tension.

  • Rest is a slow walk without your phone.

  • Rest is breathwork, meditation, stillness.

  • Rest is laying on the beach listening to the sound of the waves.

This kind of rest isn’t indulgent—it’s essential.

So here’s a radical reframe: Instead of asking if you’ve worked hard enough to earn rest, ask yourself: Have I rested enough to create my best work?

Deep Rest might feel uncomfortable at first

It’s important to know that if you’re not used to practicing deep rest, it might feel uncomfortable at first.
Your mind will likely resist, it will try to convince you to cut your break short, to get up, to be productive again. That’s normal. It’s just your brain doing what it’s been conditioned to do.

This is why you have to make a clear decision:
“I’m going to stay with this. I’m going to allow myself to rest.”

In the beginning, it might even feel like you’re falling behind.
You may not feel the benefits right away. You might just feel... restless.
But that’s part of the process.

When you stick with it. When you give yourself permission to truly pause, something begins to shift.

And with time, rest no longer feels like a luxury or a reward. It becomes part of your rhythm. A source of clarity. A quiet power that nourishes your nervous system, your creativity, and your sense of self. The benefits of deep rest are real and they are absolutely worth it.
